LUBBOCK – Lubbock has started 2017 on a high note, with first quarter 2017 home sales outpacing last year by nearly 5 percent while the median price increased about 1 percent to $144,000, according to data released by the Texas Association of Realtors.

Housing market by the numbers:

  • 98,399 – Texas home sale listings for 1Q 2017, a 6 percent increase over the first quarter of 2016
  • 68,420 – Texas home sales, a 4.6 percent increase over the first quarter of 2016
  • 803 – Lubbock home sales, a 4.8 percent increase over the first quarter of 2016
  • 365 – Number of residential permits issued in Lubbock through the first quarter of 2017, up 52.1 percent from 2016
  • $144,000 – Median Lubbock home sales price in the first quarter of 2017, a 0.7 percent increase from the same period in 2017
  • 6.1 – Percent increase in Lubbock home sales in March 2017 compared to March 2016
