SAN ANTONIO, AUSTIN – The hotel industry in the San Antonio metro has experienced gains during first quarter 2017, but the market still lags behind Austin in several key metrics.
The San Antonio metro area, home to nearly 48,000 hotel rooms, sold more than 2.8 million room nights during 1Q 2017, according to a new Hotel Brand report from San Antonio-based Source Strategies Inc.
San Antonio hotels generated about $321 million in revenue during 1Q—a 10.4 percent gain year over year.
The Austin metro area, which has fewer than 36,000 hotel rooms, booked 2.4 million room nights during 1Q 2017 and generated nearly $36 million more in hotel revenue than San Antonio did.
San Antonio's room rate did climb 4.7 percent year over year to $114.05 during the quarter.
