EL PASO – Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso broke ground last week on its $83 million Medical Sciences Building II.
The 219,900-sf building will be on the Texas Tech campus in South Central El Paso. It's scheduled to open in two years.
Three of the building's five floors will be dedicated to research and include laboratories, offices, and research administration. A teaching auditorium will be on the first floor along with a dining area. The building will also include a library, classrooms, and student study rooms.
The Texas Legislature in 2015 approved $75 million in funding for the building, also known as MSB II. The local university contributed an additional $8 million.
