Eight Texas cities among best in U.S. for new businesses
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eight Texas cities have landed in the top 25 on WalletHub’s list of the best places to start a business.
Austin ranked eighth on the list, with Amarillo following close behind at ninth. Other Texas cities in the top 25 are:
- Lubbock (13);
- Laredo (15);
- Houston (18);
- Fort Worth (20);
- San Antonio (22); and
- Corpus Christi (25).
Austin and Laredo had the fourth and fifth highest average growth in the number of small businesses according to the report.
Laredo, Lubbock, and Amarillo tied for first with Lincoln, Neb.; Madison, Wis.; and Salt Lake City for the cities with most accessible financing.
Brownsville had the fifth highest availability of human capital, and Corpus Christi and Plano were tied for the longest average workweek. Plano also has the fifth most educated population.
El Paso (29), Dallas (30), Irving (37), Grand Prairie (46), and Arlington (50) all landed in the top 50.
WalletHub’s analysts compared the relative startup opportunities that exist in the 150 most populated U.S. cities using 18 key metrics.
