VICTORIA – Ground has broken at the University of Houston‐Victoria campus for University Commons—which will serve as a student center learning commons, parking lot and library.

The new University Commons will be located at the field directly across from University Center, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St.

The three‐story building will be approximately 75,000 sf and is scheduled to be completed in summer 2018 and open the fall semester.

The total cost for the project is about $29 million with a $22.5 million cost for construction.

The state funded the cost of the library, which will be on the third floor and a $150 student fee implemented in fall 2015 will cover the cost of the student center.
