EL PASO – A new resort is set to join the Montecillo Smart Growth community on El Paso's West Side.
The Resort at Montecillo is set to start construction later in 2017.
The four-acre project will include various resort amenities, including a Resident Clubhouse, "resort style" water attractions, and an events center.
The resort-like area, to be located in the heart of the huge development, will not be open to the public, except for Montecillo residents and people staying at the hotel, and it could be rented as part of a function in the events center, said David Bogas, director of development for EPT Land Communities, the El Paso company developing Montecillo.
Water attractions will include a "beach entry" resort pool, a lazy river pool, a splash pad, private cabanas, poolside food and drink service from outdoor bars, an outdoor movie screen, and 40-foot tall water slides.
The clubhouse will have a business center, fitness facilities, a "teaching kitchen" that offers free cooking lessons, a bar area, concierge desk, and lounge areas.
Construction is expected to begin in October 2017 stretching from Mesa St. to I-10 and to be completed in approximately ten months.
