KATY – Amazon.com Inc. is planning to open a 1 million-sf fulfillment center.

The fulfillment center, which will pack and ship larger-sized customer items such as music equipment, sports gear and electronics, is expected to create 1,000 full-time jobs.

Earlier this month, Katy city council members approved the annexation of more than 80 acres in Waller County for the center.

The center will be the company's 10th in Texas since it began operating in the state in 2013.
