​​​​​DALLAS – Dallas-area home prices in January posted one of the highest annual gains in the country.

Dallas home prices were 8.2 percent higher than in January 2016, according to the latest Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.​
Nationwide, prices in January were up 5.9 percent from a year earlier.​​
Dallas-area home prices are at record levels in the Case-Shiller survey and are more than 50 percent greater than where they were at the worst of the recession in 2009.
Local home prices are about 33 percent ahead of where they were at the last housing market peak in Dallas in 2007.
