COLDSPRING, SAN JACINTO COUNTY – The Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s new Camp Strake broke ground in October 2016 and should be completed by the summer of 2019, according to Boy Scouts of America COO Thomas Franklin.

The new Camp Strake will be located on land, along Hines Lake Rd., that the Boy Scouts bought in 2012 just east of Huntsville, around eight miles south of Lake Livingston.
The camp, which will span roughly 2,800 acres, commercial developments will include cabins, a mess hall and other similar structures, that will sit on 500 acres.
The Boy Scouts’ former Camp Strake site—a 2,083-acre property just south of Conroe—was sold in 2013 to Johnson Development Corp., which reportedly paid $62.4 million for the land.Location and buildings of new Camps Strake
