AUSTIN – The transformation of a former military outpost on the grounds of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) is nearly complete.

Executives hope to open the 30,000-sf South Terminal on April 13, 2017. It is adjacent to the main Barbara Jordan Terminal, with which most ABIA flyers are familiar, and only accessible via Burleson Rd.
Lonestar Airport Holdings LLC is spending $12 million on the renovations, which started in July 2016.
The one-story building can handle up to 36 aircraft arrivals and departures per day and up to 500,000 annual boardings.
The South Terminal features three outdoor gates, meaning passengers will cross the tarmac to board planes.
There will be two TSA security screening lines, an indoor/outdoor waiting area with a bar and music stage, food and drink kiosks and 1,000 parking spaces.
