COLLEGE STATION-BRYAN – Data from the U.S. Census 2015 American Community survey shows out of 21 renter cities, Bryan-College Station is No. 1 with 59.1 percent of residents renting.
The survey seems logical because of Texas A&M University.
"Texas quite honestly is a relatively low homeownership state the reason being demographics, the young people," said Dr. Jim Gaines, chief economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
Gaines saw the age range of 15- to 24-year-olds as a key group to look at.
On the national level, 9 percent are renters. Bryan-College Station renters are more than 32 percent.
