Vermillion No. 2 heading north
HARLINGEN – A popular Brownsville eatery is heading north, opening a second location.
The new location will be at 1601 W. Harrison Ave., replacing the Pico de Gallo Cocina Tex-Mex restaurant.
The iconic Brownsville eatery, the Vermillion Restaurant and Watering Hole, opened its original location in 1934 and for years, Harlingen residents have driven south to dine there.
The Harlingen property has been leased from Pico de Gallo’s owners and that restaurant would be closing soon.
The restaurant owner expects to finalize the lease and take occupancy by Feb. 13, 2017, with intentions to renovate the décor.
Vermillion No. 2 will open in about two months following the renovation work.
