​​​​​​​​​AUSTIN – Wondering what’s with all the construction cranes and hubbub on the east end of the terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport?

Austin is expanding the terminal and here is a glimpse of the project by the numbers. 

24: Gates now operating at the airport. The number of gates hasn’t changed since the airport opened in 1999.

​​9: Gates to be added with the terminal expansion. The expansion is to be completed by December 2018.

36: Acres of space for expansion of airfield jet parking and movement.​

88,359: Square feet of space to be added by the expansion.
12 million: Passengers annually served by Austin-Bergstrom. The airport said it was originally designed to serve only 11 million.
15 million: Passengers to be served annually after the expansion.
$350 million: Total cost of expansion project.
