​FORT WORTH – Ground was broken Dec. 15 on a $13 million facility for YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. It will be built next door to Mitchell Blvd. Elementary School in southeast Fort Worth. 

The 35,000-sf building, located at 3601 Mitchell Blvd., will feature:
  • ​a preschool, 
  • dedicated youth space,
  • full gymnasium with walking track, plus
  • ​​a fitness center and demonstration kitchen. 

The Y was awarded $3 million in new market tax credit funding for the project, which translates to more than 95 percent of funding necessary to begin construction on the organization’s newest facility.
Funding for the project includes a $2.3 million contribution from the City of Fort Worth to provide a community pool as part of the organization’s aquatics master plan.
The facility is expected to open in late spring 2018.
