RICHMOND - Big Tex Self Storage has opened a third self-storage facility in the Houston area.

The new 100,000-sf building at 1810 Richmond Ave. contains:

  • small and large storage units for residential storage;
  • commercial and wine storage; and
  • 24-hour surveillance by more than 40 cameras, according to the company.

The continued residential development in the Montrose area made it an ideal location, said owner Bobby Grover.

Grover added that the storage facility will blend in with Montrose's artistic and cultural flair.

The company incorporated landscaping and sidewalks along Richmond Avenue and a 15- by 10-ft. exterior "art wall," will feature artists' works rotating quarterly.

According to TDLR, construction cost was $3.7 million.
