TEXAS – Real estate agents are expecting a record year for home sales in 2016, according to the Texas Quarterly Housing Report 3Q 2016 (PDF)​​​ by the Texas Association of REALTORS.

A record nearly 250,000 homes were sold by real estate agents through the first three quarters 2016. More than 91,000 homes were sold in third quarter 2016.

North Texas is leading the state in home sales with over 86,000 single-family homes sold by real estate agents through October 2016.

Statewide, median home sales prices are just above $200,000. In North Texas, median home sales prices have been about $225,00 this year.

The Texas Realtors group says 30 percent of home sales in the state in 2016 have been to first-time buyers. Likewise, 30 percent of the sales have been new houses.
