LIVE OAK – IKEA is moving forward with plans to open a San Antonio-area location as part of the company’s goal to "fill in the middle of the country with a little bit of Sweden."
Details for the future 290,000-sf store are expected to include more than 1,000 parking spaces and—consistent with the retailer’s 390 locations around the world—boast the infamous yellow and blue design scheme.
The retailer is currently under contract for 31 acres of vacant land at the corner of I-35 and Loop 1604, the future home for its proposed location in the City of Live Oak.
The Swedish retailer will begin filing for permits to open the sixth Texas store, which is expected to open its doors by summer 2019.
The company plans to create 250 jobs in connection with the new store.
