Full renovation for El Paso’s Sherman Plaza
EL PASO – Representatives from the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP), as well as local and state leaders broke ground to start the full renovation of the Sherman Plaza Apartments.
The $24 million project includes the reconstruction of 178 homes in the north-side of the community by year-end 2017.
Officials said that 18 low-rise buildings will be demolished to make way for the new construction.
Work will consist of rebuilding the 18 buildings and constructing 34 additional homes.
The new and rebuilt homes will have Energy-Star appliances, central heating and cooling.
The community will also have a new daycare center, a community center for social events, new playgrounds, an athletic court and picnic areas.
