Big-box retailer spurs excitement in Donna

DONNA, HIDALGO COUNTY – The Walmart Supercenter has opened at 900 N. Salinas Blvd.

Anne Hatfield, regional director of communications for Walmart, said that the retail store has created approximately 300 new jobs in the area.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Donna location includes a full service pharmacy, bakery, deli and fuel station.

The Donna location is the latest in Hidalgo County for Walmart, which has recently added new regular-sized stores in Edinburg and Hidalgo, as well.

The company has also opened its smaller Neighborhood Market stores in Weslaco and McAllen, with a second location set to open there along with another in Mission.
