SAN ANTONIO - A former elementary school on the East Side is the site of the new Eastside Education & Training Center.

EETC—pronounced like “Etsy"— will be located in the former Pfeiffer Academy Elementary School at 4551 Dietrich Rd.

Tuition is free; the goal is to enroll 300 students next year.

The 56,000-sf renovated facility will bring adult education, workforce training and a host of supportive services to residents of the East Side as well as elsewhere in the city.

The center, under the operation of Alamo Colleges, the San Antonio Independent School District and the city, will offer job training in health care, information technology, construction, customer services and other "in-demand" careers.

Future plans call for an on-site "kitchen incubator" for those interested in the culinary field.

Other services will include adult literacy classes, GED preparation, child care, transportation help and case management.

Staff from Workforce Solutions Alamo will be on hand to help clients with job referrals and placement.
