Houston to Manchester, easier than everHouston to Manchester, easier than everhttps://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=150342016-10-31T05:00:00Z2016-10-31T18:00:00Z

HOUSTON - A nonstop flight between Houston and Manchester, England, has launched.

Singapore Airlines is adding the across-the-pond service five times a week starting October 30 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

It's the first direct flight between Houston and Manchester, and it's the airline’s first transatlantic flight to and from the U.K.

But Singapore Airlines is suspending its existing flights between Moscow and Houston on October 30.

Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport has added a flurry of new international flights over the past couple of years. For instance, Taiwanese carrier EVA Air added new nonstop Houston-Taipei, Taiwan, flights earlier this year and announced plans to add more in the fall.

Meanwhile, William P. Hobby Airport got into the international game last fall with the opening of Southwest Airlines Co.’s new terminal.

Flights from Hobby are targeting the Caribbean and Mexico.
