HOUSTON - Now on the radar: Another low-cost option to Mexico City.

Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline operated by Mexico-based Controladora Vuela Compañía de Aviación S.A.B. de C.V., will add flights between Mexico's capital and the Bayou City.

The airline added a different Houston-to-Mexico route last year, as it has been expanding its U.S. offerings.

Flights will depart Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between Houston and Mexico City. Volaris will take off from George Bush Intercontinental Airport beginning February 1, 2017.

The airline said one-way tickets start at about $99. That's near the price point for most one-way, midweek tickets out of IAH.

Southwest Airlines also offers one-way tickets around Volaris' price during the middle of the week out of Houston's William P. Hobby Airport.
