THE WOODLANDS - A major renovation and expansion project is planned for The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands.

The 16,500-seat amphitheater north of Houston will receive an $11 million facelift, pavilion offices modernization.

The renovation includes the following projects:

• A facelift of the canopy entryway into the pavilion. The gates also will be modernized with electronic equipment to improve ticketed entry.
• Tearing down the one-story Woodforest Bank Club and building a new two-story VIP Club.
• Removing a modular trailer and building a new operations building that will house office and storage space for pavilion staff.
• An expansion of the loading dock for artists’ equipment and buses.

Construction is expected to begin in late October.

The majority of the renovations will be wrapped up by March or April, but the VIP club will be completed within the next nine months.

The annual Holly Jolly Jingle holiday performance will be cancelled this year as a result of the renovation work, but most of the projects should be completed in time for the 2017 concert season, Pavilion officials said.
