Two Texas ZIPs among nation’s hottest
WASHINGTON, D.C. – ZIP codes in Watauga and San Antonio have taken the first and fifth spots, respectively, on Realtor.com’s list of the hottest housing markets of 2016.
Houses in ZIP 76148 (Watauga) generally sell in 17 days, almost 30 percent faster than last year. Median listing price is $137,000, up 16.4 percent over last year, and the area has had 3 percent job growth. The dominant buyer segment in Watauga is millennials, who make up 65 percent of the total population of owners in the area.
ZIP 78247 (San Antonio) moved up from No. 6 last year. Houses here generally sell in 28 days and have a median listing price of $184,000, up 5.8 percent year over year. The area has also had 3 percent job growth, but it has an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent and growing.
