DALLAS – Locally based Balfour Beatty Construction U.S. has won a large elementary construction and renovation project from Highland Park Independent School District totaling $110 million.

The initial phase of the project is underway and includes the construction of the district’s first new elementary school since 1948. The 100,000-sf campus will sit on 4.6 acres at Durham St. and Wentwood Dr. The school is slated for completion in summer 2017.

Balfour Beatty is also demolishing and constructing replacement campuses on three existing sites. Each 100,000-sf school will take 13 months to complete. A fifth school will undergo renovations, which will include a 7,900-sf addition and right-sizing existing classrooms.

Stantec designed the schools to conserve water and energy.
