Surf’s up in Austin, dude!
AUSTIN – The first U.S. surf park with a lagoon the size of nine football fields is open. The facility is designed for surfers of all levels.
The 160-acre park is situated in a rapidly-developing area of Southeast Austin near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
“Southeast Austin’s Highway 71 and the new 130 corridor is an up and coming area with interest from residential, commercial and industrial developers,” said NLand’s Resident Manager Ruben Rodriguez, according to GlobeSt.com.
Surfing at NLand costs anywhere from $90 per person for a challenging "Reef Session" to $60 to ride the comparatively calm waters of its "Bay Wave" section, according to prices on its website.
White Construction Company was the general contractor on the project and the technology behind the surf park was developed by Spain-based Wavegarden SL.
