KINGWOOD – Kingwood, one of Houston’s oldest master-planned communities, is about to open Royal Brook, the final residential section in the 15,000-acre northeast Houston project.

Ashton Woods, Perry Homes and Village Builders have opened model homes there, and Drees Custom Homes and J. Patrick Homes are putting on finishing touches on their models.

Homes in the community at Mills Branch and West Lake Houston Pkwy. are priced from about $300,000 to more than $600,000.

Since Friendswood Development Co. opened Kingwood in 1972, the community has grown to more than 20,000 homes.

Royal Brook, which spans 510 acres and is planned for 1,100 homes, is the first new village to open in the community in several years.

Friendswood Development’s initial community, Clear Lake City, also recently expanded with the opening of The Reserve at Clear Lake City in 2015.

Trendmaker Homes is developing that 740-home project.

Opening weekend begins October 8.
