HOUSTON – A Utah-based climbing gym is expanding in Houston with a second facility in the works.

Momentum Indoor Climbing plans to build its largest gym ever in a retrofitted warehouse on Washington Ave. in the Silver Street Studios area.

The company said the 40,000-sf facility will be one of the biggest bouldering gyms in the world.

Momentum Silver Street, the name of the gym, is the second Momentum facility slated for the Houston area.

The new gym will have 17,000 sf of bouldering along with a training area and cardio room.

At least one climbing sector will be nearly 200 feet tall.

The gym—located at the intersection of Kingsland Blvd. and Katy Mills Pkwy. near the Katy Mills Mall—is expected to open in summer 2017.
