PEARLAND – Swiss pharmaceutical and biotech company Lonza will add about 150,000 sf to its facility that is currently under construction in the lower Kirby District.

Lonza broke ground on the initial phase of the 100,000-sf project in March.  With an estimated opening date in late 2017, the company will initially employ over 100 with plans to employ up to several hundred scientists, engineers, and biotech professionals over the next ten years.

The added space will be used for the production of commercial quantities of viral gene and cell therapies.

The expansion was a collaborative effort between the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, the city, and the Greater Houston Partnership.
