TYLER - The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) broke ground on a $56 million, four-story, 140,000-sf College of Business and Technology building.

The building will be located just off of University Dr., across from the shopping center with Steak and Shake and Republic Icehouse.

The College of Business is the largest school at UT Tyler, accounting for more than 2,600 of the university’s nearly 10,000 students. The building will help the university reach its goal of 14,000 students enrolled by 2020.

The project also includes a new parking garage with about 400 parking spaces. Some of the building’s features will include student meeting spaces, specialized experimental labs, a courtyard and second floor terrace.

Upon completion of the project, UT Tyler will renovate the existing business school spaces and make room for the College of Arts and Science.
