HOUSTON - Purolator Advanced Filtration Group plans to close a Houston plant and consolidate those operations into a North Carolina plant.

The move is expected to affect 74 jobs, according to a Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter the company sent to the Texas Workforce Commission.

“After significant deliberation with respect to the sustained market challenges we face, we have decided to close our Purolator (Engineered Filtration Products) facility at 8733 Daffodil and consolidate manufacturing operations into our Shelby, NC, facility,” the company said in a letter to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

“We will commence ceasing production at the Houston facility as of Friday, December 2, 2016.”

Affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights, meaning workers with more seniority cannot take jobs from employees with less seniority.
