WACO – The average price for a four-bedroom, two-bath home in Greater Waco stands at $196,940.

The 2016 Coldwell Banker Home Listing Report compiles a list of the most affordable markets in America.

Waco ranked 93rd in average price among the 116 metropolitan areas in Texas, behind Carthage at $200,082 and ahead of Stephenville at $196,490.

The going price for a home in Waco and its suburbs has been climbing in the past year to 18 months, local real estate agents said.

Amarillo-based economist Karr Ingham’s latest snapshot revealed the average price for an existing home sold in July reached $196,344, which was 13.3 percent higher than the $173,227 in July a year earlier.

For the year through July, the average was $180,907, which was 6.5 percent more than the $169,843 during the same period in 2015.
