UTRGV Edinburg mapping out $35.6M engineering center
EDINBURG – The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved a plan to construct a state-of-the-art facility on UT Rio Grande Valley Edinburg campus.
UTRGV aims to increase the number of engineering students with construction of the 53,400-sf building.
Completion of the $35.6 million Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academics Studies Building is anticipated by November 2018.
According to Edinburg Mayor Richard García, "(the) new facility will include six engineering teaching labs, two discipline-specific computer labs, eight 60-seat general classrooms, offices for faculty and staff, and support spaces for graduate and doctoral students."
The Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academics Studies Building will be located adjacent to the west Physical Science Building, which will be abandoned and demolished.
