AMARILLO – Coldwell Banker has become the first bona fide tenant in the new Town Square Village development being erected at the corner of Hillside and Soncy roads.

The project, which sits on about 2,600 acres, will comprise nearly 500 apartment units, 120,000 sf of retail space and plenty of special amenities.

Randy Jeffers, co-owner of the Coldwell Banker Realtors firm in Amarillo, and his partners — Tom Roller and Bob Garrett — are still working side-by-side with construction crews that are finishing up the work at the firm’s ground-floor office. “We’re about 80 to 90 percent done,” Jeffers said.

The Town Square project is being developed by the Williams Group, headed by Amarillo developer Perry Williams.

It will comprise four major buildings, each of which will include ground-floor retail space, apartments and condominiums throughout the rest of the upper floors and plenty of green space.

Jeffers also talked about a gigantic athletic complex planned for the site that will include a batting cage, a golf simulator, a firearms shooting range to be built in the basement, an indoor track and a pole-vaulting pit.

Jeffers said retail space will include food service, restaurants, boutiques, clothing stores, coffee shops and what he called “an upscale bar.”

He said the first residential complex is scheduled to start welcoming tenants by this summer.

Club Verdure — the huge athletic complex — is set to open by the end of 2015, Jeffers said.

Jeffers predicted that development “will slow in south Amarillo and will shift from a southwesterly direction to a more western/southwesterly direction.”
