ABILENE MSA - Unemployment for August 2016 is down a fraction of a percentage point from July 2016, but up slightly from August 2015 in the Abilene MSA.
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) placed the rate at 4.2 percent for August.
That compares to 4.3 percent for July and 3.9 percent for August 2015.
The TWC estimated the civilian labor force for the Abilene Statistical Metropolitan Area—made up of Taylor, Callahan and Jones counties—at 75,700, of which 72,500 were employed.
The labor force was estimated at 1,100 people higher than a year ago.
