TEMPLE - Dirt is being moved where the Salvation Army McLane Center of Hope will be built on West Ave. G. Construction on the center should be complete in 330 days — roughly 11 months.

The 20,835-sf structure will have space for 40 beds for women and children. The new structure will cost approximately $2.3 million to construct.

The men’s shelter, with its 40 beds, will be in the building across the street that had been a women’s shelter for Martha’s Kitchen. It will cost $250,000 to renovate.

Salvation Army McLane Center of Hope will be a transitional facility that will offer money management, job and life skills education to those who want to change their lives.
