Abilene envisions new hotel and “Festival District”

​​Abilene – A downtown conference center hotel and "Festival District" are in the works. 

Mayor Norm Archibald states the project’s intent is to "anchor and connect" the medical district with the historic downtown cultural arts district.

While the primary objective is to construct the hotel, the city will entertain developer proposals for completing the entire vision.

The private sector partner will develop, finance, own, and operate a nationally branded hotel property of more than 150 rooms directly across the street from the Abilene Civic Center.

The project area is within a three-block city-owned downtown site to the southwest of Pine and 6th St.
