McLEAN, Va. – Fixed mortgage rates are moving slightly higher for the week, according to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
Despite the increase, mortgage rates remain near record lows.
The results of the survey show:
- 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 3.46 percent with an average 0.5 point for the week ending Sept. 1, 2016, up from last week when it averaged 3.43 percent. A year ago at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 3.89 percent.
- 15-year FRM this week averaged 2.77 percent with an average 0.5 point, up from last week when it averaged 2.74 percent. A year ago at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 3.09 percent.
- Five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) averaged 2.83 percent this week with an average 0.4 point, up from last week when it averaged 2.75 percent. A year ago, the five-year ARM averaged 2.9 percent.
