Salary you need to buy Dallas median-priced home
DALLAS – The good news is that Dallas doesn’t have anywhere close to the most expensive housing in the country.
The bad news is our home prices are still far from cheap—and costs are rising, a new report from mortgage trend researchers at HSH.com found.
According to the report, you need to earn $54,764 a year to afford a median-priced home in Dallas-Fort Worth, up $2,938 from 1Q 2016.
The median home cost $232,000 during the most recent financial quarter, which is a 10.5 percent increase from last quarter and a 7.9 percent increase since the same time last year.
DFW ranked near the middle of the pack for affordability, compared with 26 other metro areas around the country.
The other Texas metro areas that were ranked also fell somewhere near the middle: In Houston, you’d need to make at least $52,274 to afford a median-priced home, and in San Antonio, at least $48,752.
