Arena Theatre’s coming attraction: The venue itself

SHARPSTOWN, HARRIS COUNTY - Arena Theatre will get a half-million-dollar makeover thanks to an early lease renewal by its longtime operator.

Multi-Events Arena has renewed a lease with Boxer Property for the theater, which adjoins two 20-story buildings that make up Arena Place. 

The Dallas-based company has committed to nine more years in the complex along the Southwest Fwy. near Fondren Rd.

As part of the deal, Arena Theatre will receive updated seating and improved audio and visual equipment. 

The 42,000-sf theater will not close during the renovations.

Entertainers such as Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam, Jerry Seinfeld, Aretha Franklin, Kenny Rogers, and George Carlin have performed at the small venue over the years.
