AMARILLO - Construction is underway on the new Pantex Administrative Center located at the intersection of FM 2373 and US 60 which will house up to 1,100 office employees.

The 343,000-sf building is the culmination of 16 months of planning by Consolidated Nuclear Security, the company that manages the Pantex Plant, and the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Construction is expected to be finished in spring 2018.

Workers will move from aging, dilapidated buildings within the security perimeter to the new facility just outside it.

The three-story administration building will include offices, a laboratory, an auditorium, a cafeteria, and urgent care service areas.

Texas Tech University has leased 16,000 sf in the complex to collaborate on 3-D printing and other research projects with Pantex scientists.
