​​​​​​TEMPLE – Scott & White Memorial Hospital–Temple broke ground on an innovative surgical sciences facility that will bring new, advanced procedures to patients in Central Texas. ​

The cost will be $60 million for the new facility, according to Dr. Harry T. Papaconstantinou, Chairman, Department of Surgery, Scott & White Medical Center Temple. 

The three-story,​​ 147,000-sf facility is slated is slated to open in summer 2018.

Built adjacent to Memorial Hospital, facing Scott & White Boulevard on the east side of the campus, the facility will increase the number of operating room suites at Memorial from 26 to 32.

Existing operating rooms within the hospital will be expanded and refreshed.

The expansion aims to make Central Texas a destination for patients outside of the region who need complex surgical procedures and to attract highly-skilled physicians who will bring innovative procedures to Scott & White Memorial Hospital–Temple.

The new facility will feature ten operating room suites, each approximately 750 sf. 

The facility will also feature a dedicated external entrance, new private day surgery rooms, additional post-anesthesia care units, and high-tech instrument processing that will support advanced procedures. ​
