How does Dallas stack up? Median incomes reported
DALLAS – Out of the big four metropolitan cities in Texas—Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio—Dallas is the youngest, and has the lowest median household income.
Now, that’s just counting the City of Dallas, not the greater North Texas area.
In a data set put out by Data USA, the average age and income goes up when the whole region is taken into account.
Here’s how the City of Dallas compares with the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area as a whole.
Dallas
- Population: 1.4 million
- Median household income: $43,003
- Average age: 32.4
North Texas
- Population: 7 million
- Median household income: $59,530
- Average age: 34.5
The uptick in wealth once you get outside city limits is obvious.
The wealthiest county in DFW is Rockwall, which has an average median household income of $86,597. Collin County isn’t far behind, which an average household income of $84,233.
