ROSHARON – Alvin Independent School District has purchased 98 acres in the Meridiana master-planned community to build a varsity stadium for football, soccer, and band performances.

The 10,000-seat stadium will open in fall 2018 at Iowa Colony Blvd. and CR 64. It will include administrative offices for Alvin ISD’s athletic department. Home, visitor, and officials locker rooms will be behind one end zone, and the other end of the stadium will house an alumni center for educational events, school banquets, University Interscholastic League competitions, and alumni reunions.

There is also land available for the district to build a natatorium and fine arts center in the future. The stadium can also be expanded to 12,000 seats if necessary.

Alvin ISD also plans to open Meridiana Elementary in the master-planned community this fall.

The district will build the stadium using funds from its November 2015 bond election. Construction on the new stadium is expected to begin this fall after the general contractor is selected.

Rise Communities LLC broke ground on the 2,700-acre Meridiana community in April 2015.
