Beat the heat! Tiki Island’s fresh air blows to Midland
MIDLAND – Tiki Island — an inflatable water park by Mode Entertainment — will be opening on the west side of Midland.
The park is the first of its kind in Texas and the second one in the country.
Mode Entertainment is building Tiki Island at the Scharbauer Sports Complex parking lot closest to Loop 250 and Deauville Blvd.
It will operate Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Tiki Island will have 11 water-based attractions that tie into the park’s tropical theme.
Day tickets are $14.99; season passes will be available for $99.99.
Andrew Mellen, engineering representative for the development, said that, even though the park can handle more than 500 people, it will restrict the capacity to 500 to make the park a safe place.
According to Elizabeth McLellan, marketing director for Tiki Island, the park will use 60,000 gallons of water per week, as well as solar-powered mist machines, pump filtration devices and recycling receptacles.
