AUSTIN - The construction of 70 Rainey condominiums is underway in the heart of the historic Rainey District.

The building itself has reaped added inspiration in terms of enhanced indoor-outdoor amenities.

The garage podium design, an element of the overall silhouette created by Austin’s Page architecture firm, will feature vines and vegetation that might well be inspired by the ancient Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

There will be the usual state-of-the-art infinity pool, but expect an added dimension—a “secondary plunge pool that is nestled in a garden room,” said Philip Koske, associate at Design Workshop, the landscape architect. “The garden room is surrounded by Chilean Mesquite trees, so it will feel enclosed and very leafy. This context will make it one of the most exclusive hang-out spaces in the city.”

First units likely will deliver in late 2018.
