PRINCETON, COLLIN COUNTY - A $300 million master-planned community expected to bring more than 2,800 single-family homes, a new elementary school, and the Princeton City Hall to the North Texas town a few miles east of McKinney has been acquired.

The 860-acre master-planned community, called Whitewing Trails, sits near Monte Carlo Blvd. and FM 75 and is the largest planned community to get underway so far in Princeton.

Plans for the project include a trail system throughout the community, a large community clubhouse, community pools, sports fields and courts and several pocket parks.

With few large tracts available in North Texas' growth markets such as Princeton, developers and land investors are eager to acquire these type of properties.

The homes within the community will be priced in the low $200,000s to the low $300,000s upon completion.

Construction is slated to begin in January 2017.
