DALLAS – Apartment analyst Axiometrics says local renters are on average paying just over $60 a month more than they were a year ago, and that's not likely to change for a while.

Last month, average rents hit an all-time high of $1,129, a 5.5 percent increase from a year ago.

Although Fort Worth rents, which averaged $1,011, were less than Dallas rents last month, they were up 6.9 percent compared with last year, a sharper increase than in Dallas.

Axiometrics expects area rents will increase by more than 3 percent in the next year on top of recent increases.
