HARKER HEIGHTS - Reality TV star Richard Rawlings, known for his “Fast N’ Loud” show on the Discovery Channel and his Gas Monkey Bar N’ Grill restaurants in the Dallas area, has bought the former Twin Peaks building in Harker Heights.
Rawlings has snapped up the location in Harker Heights, near Killeen and Fort Hood, where he will place a novelty restaurant called Richard Rawlings’ Garage.
Publicists now confirm his interest in Harker Heights, issuing a release that said, “Richard Rawlings’ Garage will offer guests a look under the hood at his love for gears and grub.
It will specialize in revved-up twists on American Comfort Classics, including burgers, sandwiches, braised brisket and beer.”
Rawlings, a Fort Worth native, scours Texas and surrounding states in search of neglected vintage cars he and co-star Aaron Kaufman can return to their previous glory.
They work out of the Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, and have proved so popular with viewers they inspired a spinoff called “Misfit Garage.”
It likely will open during the first two weeks of August 2016, after renovations and hiring are complete, Rawlings’ spokeswoman, Liz Jones, said via email.
