AUSTIN – Samsung Electronics is expanding its Austin presence, doubling the size of its research and development facility.

The company announced signing a lease for a 112,000-sf office in southwest Austin.

The new facility, at San Clemente on Capital of Texas Hwy. (Loop 360) near Westlake Dr., is for the company’s advanced chip designers.

The company said it is currently hiring to fill their new space.

Their current R&D facility is located at Ladera Bend on FM 2222.

"Our new office space is twice as large as our current space and offers a more efficient, innovative layout," said Keith Hawkins, the vice president of the Samsung Austin R&D Center, in a written statement.

The company expects to move into its new facility by the end of this year.
